Dad tried to make me hunter…but I love to fish
The instructors told me not to be disappointed if I failed the hunter education test. I was barely 11 years old at the time. But they didn't know my Dad. In between the 3 class sessions (you can study on line now) he had me and my brother at the dining room table studying. At first I tried to play it off when he asked, "Have you been reading and studying the manual?" Yeah, I replied. Then he had us take the sample test and we failed miserably. But to his credit he didn't yell at us, he took the time to show us how to study and he studied with us. This made me a better student in the classroom and had a positive impact on my academic ability the rest of my life. Needless to say I passed the State of Oregon hunter education exam with flying colors.
