Ryo Noda - Musician

Posted in 2007, Musicians/Entertainers by Administrator on the October 15th, 2007

Ryo Noda Ryo Noda is a musician we met as a result of a long term friendship with his bride, Tomoko.  We first met Tomoko as an exchange student when she was 19 years old.  We watched her grow into a young woman and eventually become the wife of this very talented young man, Ryo.

A resident of Brooklyn, we consider his music as being very accessible locally thanks in large part to the Internet.  Ryo is listed as one of the partners on our website, and we consider his talent as an asset to our company.  He has provided a short bio:

Ryo Noda was born in Japan. He came to NYC in 1988, and has been fascinated by NYC culture ever since. It was in NYC that he was introduced and heavily influenced by the varied forms of the musical world. From 1988 to 1992, Ryo Noda formed and paid his dues in a band, called “Real”- the music was like late 70’s disco. He played guitar in this band. At the same time, he worked in a couple of different bands as a guitarist and he joined countless lives. In 1993, he met the reggae group, “Symbol of Unity Band” and he became a member. He was deeply influenced by West Indies Music.Since 1994, Ryo has been producing music and attended two years of audio engineering and synthesizer classes to enhance his production skills at a NYC college.Ryo began studying Afro Cuban rhythm theory such as Mambo, Cha-Cha, and Rumba in 1998 and received instruction from percussionist, Montego Joe who was one of the original members of Baba Olatunji Group in the 60’s. It was the catalyst needed to make his musical sensibilities grow. From 1996, Ryo Noda has been concentrating on composing his own music and also collaborating on music with various artists and producers. In 2002, he co-wrote the biggest hit single, “Always on Time” for Ja Rule. That was one of his remarkable career achievements.

It has been almost two decades since his arrival in the States. His life experience, particularly in NYC, reflects in his music, and it has given him food for thought as well.

Some samples of his music are listed here:

Coyle Parker - Musician

Posted in 2007, Musicians/Entertainers by Administrator on the August 7th, 2007

Coyle Parker, musician I meet a lot of people in this business.  A few of them have what I call “raw” talent.  That is, talent that is not the result of years of training and self-promotion.  This is God-given talent, the purest form.  Now Coyle might object to the “God-Given” business, since he struggles with his own inner angst and place in the cosmos, and an existentialist influence from a culture steeped in postmodern nihilism.  Nevertheless, he has talent.  His songs are usually self-effacing, dark and moody.  Yet at the same time they are filled with an unvarnished truth.  His honesty is almost painful and I often am reminded of my dark years when I struggled with self and the side effects of disease and oppressive depressions.  Yet, there is in his lyrics and musical scale a touch of hope - fragile to be sure, but still radiant, a glint, a fleeting shaft of light piercing the darkness.  Coyle may not believe in God, but he has the classic symptoms of someone on that edge of belief.  Perhaps still hurting enough to hold back - not having the trust outside of himself to let go.  Time will tell.  His music may transend that time and become the path that takes him across.  Let us hope.   http://nlemedia.com/OpeningBio, So Low So High.wmv    Go to:  http://nlemedia.com/Pages/partners.htm   Coyle has also worked with a number of bands.  “The Gays” were a recent band he played guitar in:  http://home.teleport.com/~flyheart/gays.htmCoyle Parker, center back

Small Business Forum - May 2007 - 1 Year Anniversary

One year ago this month we started posting videos of our Small Business Forum on the net.  This month and next we are taking time off as we prepare and engage ourselves in a caravan to Boise, Salt Lake City, Bryce Canyon, The Grand Canyon, Zion, Sidona and all places between.  So we have put together a list of speakers we have had over the last year.  It is not a complete list by any means, but it represents the kind of subject matter near and dear to the Small Business Forum.  We start with the first part of Anne E. Denecke’s keynote address from April 2007:

Cloud9 - Don Anderson: “mentor” - also this month: Internet Fraud

Posted in Observations, Musicians/Entertainers by Administrator on the October 1st, 2006

The Small Business Forum keynote speaker for September was Don Anderson who is the mentor for the singing group “Cloud 9″. “Cloud 9 Final Concert”. ( You can view their August 12th concert by clicking on the previous highlight.) We asked Don to come to the SBF because this group of young men is outstanding, and we want to be sure that this effort continues. We encourage you to step up and support this group. They fund this effort out of their own pockets. Don would like to create a scholarship program for those who would like to join, but do not have the financial resources to do so. Click here: http://nlemedia.com/DonAndersonWeb.wmv to view the video of our SBF keynote. We also have a webpage on our site dedicated to this group: Cloud 9.htm We hope to have a link to the website these young men are creating in the near future. Check back with us to get that link.

We launched the first of what will be a series of discussions on various forms of fraud in the Internet world. We have been helping a number of small businesses that have been “taken” by hucksters and charlatans. Since January of this year Greg Gordon has been following the topic of “Click-Ad Fraud” and he shared some information at this SBF. Internet Fraud

We have attached several good sources you should make yourself familiar with:

2. http://www.benedelman.org/news/040406-1.html

If you have or are planning to have a website we recommend doing research, asking questions and getting everything in writing. Here is a link to a site that will be very helpful on many different levels. We recently joined this group and can say they have a terrific program: http://www.ideacafe.com

A BitterSweet Story - Cloud 9

Posted in Musicians/Entertainers by Administrator on the August 14th, 2006

As summer begins to fade thoughts of the new school year begin to enter the collective mind set.  We are reminded of the passage of time.  What was once so sure begins to fade and soon, oh too soon, our memories are all that remains of the once sure and present.  It is a bittersweet existence in many ways, but given the choices only a nihilist would decline such memories.  August 12, 2006 marked the last concert of a vocal group known as “Cloud 9″.  Their concert was held at the Community Music Center on the corner of 33rd & Francis, SE Portland.  The ears that heard those final notes will forever be changed…

“Don Anderson started this group in May of 2005 when some boys came and asked him if he would help them start a singing group.  Since that time Cloud 9 has taken off.  Through hard work they landed their first “gig” at the acoustically amazing Oaks Amusement Park.  We know that it is hard to think that things could get better from that, but they did.  The group went on to such things as singing at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, a Blazer Game and had the honor to be the first vocal group to ever march in the Grand Floral Parade.  They also sang for the Rose Queen Coronation.  from zero to hero, just like that with the help of Don Anderson who put in far more time than anyone could have dreamed — and dealt with 9 high school boys at his house anywhere from twice to five times a week — none of this could have been possible without him!”  from a tribute to Don Anderson by the boys.

NLE Media Productions is proud of the work these outstanding young men have done.  Their mentor, Don Anderson is an example to us all.  He brought out the best and those who heard these young men sing are twice blessed.  Their time has moved on and hopefully a new song will rise from the seeds they planted.  The concert is posted here:  Cloud 9 Final Concert
